Rio Tinto Outreach Program
The Outreach Program is a rewards program that motivates students to continue volunteering in their community after their project experience.
The Outreach Program rewards students who demonstrate leadership and commitment both during, and after their community service experience.
Ten outstanding students are selected each term to attend the Outreach Program during school holidays, where they are funded to join Park Rangers on active DEC projects for up to five days at a time - to explore, learn, and develop their skills in natural resource management.
At the end of the program students receive a Certificate of Appreciation, and are acknowledged as Champions on the Rio Tinto Earth Assist website.
To be eligible for the Outreach Program students must complete a minimum 20 hours volunteering with CVA and satisfactorily complete at least two units from the Certificate I in Active Volunteering in order to recevie a Statement of Attainment.
The Outreach Program is not restricted to academic achievement, students must also show strong leadership skills, application of learnt skills and a passion for the environment.
